After the devastating earthquake of 11th January 1963, the rebuilding works gave many artists of the period the possibility to show their talents and skills. That's why a great deal of monuments which enrich the towns of the old Noto valley date back to 1700, even if they reflect a baroque culture. It could be said that the catastrophe caused a kind of censorship in the isle cultural history. This is a suggestive thesis which is open to different interpretative proposals in the field of the greatest aesthetic thought.
The study of the professor Lucia Triglia, scientific director of "International studies centre on Sicily Baroque" and the considerations of the critic Demetrio Paparoni, director of "Tema celeste", one among the most qualified art magazines, will give further studies on the matter.
