In
Sicily "Cannaluvari" enjoys itself and makes people enjoy. For many decades,
everywhere within the isle, 'celebrations' and relevant shows have been carried out more
and more copiously and imposingly. Within Catania province, Acireale boasts of having the "most beautiful Sicilian Carnival". As everyone knows, Carnival more than a mere feast is a mood, a madness feeling which involves anyone in different ways. How can you be sure that an emotion may be felt more strongly in a place than in another one? Sicilian people are very passionate and they know well that even what is ephemeral is to be lived intensely and without any rules and places compulsion. The Carnival King is at his height in Paternò and Misterbianco, too. Stately allegorical, papier-mâchè and flowered carts, precious costumes, masks shows, procession ... everything to celebrate the feeling of spring's birth as Lent, in Sicily, marks also winter's end and the beginning of first spring warm. For 40 days no feast will be possible. But we will be happy all the same as we already feel the newborn Spring feelings. |
