Situated 9 Km from Catania. Located at the foot of a Norman Castle built in 1076 by Count Roger on a craggy lava cliff overlooking the sea, used since prehistorical times as a fort. There is no harbour as such, but a 100m quay where small fishing boats can moor. Soundings about 1.5m.

Dangers: caution required at night in summer season on account of the presence of a large number of buoys and anchored craft; casting anchor unadvisable due to rocky seabed.

Soundings: 0.5 to 1.2 metres.

Windward: Easterly and Sirocco.

Lee: NE - N - NW - W - SW.

A limited amount of mooring is available for craft 4/6 metres in length. In the summer season the Patanč firm runs a small wooden jetty with 30 berths.
