He started playing and studying music when he was very young. He played with different groups, moving from rock (Palermo-Pop '70 international meeting) to experimental Pop, Fusion and World Music.
In 1976 he had the first contract as a singer-composer for Warner Bros Music (WEA) and in 1978 he had the 2nd position at Festivalbar with "E' sera".
He has carried out many tours: in 1978 one with Alberto Fortis and one with Vasco Rossi (his first concert), in 1980 with the New Trolls and in these last years with Riccardo Zappa.
His record productions are "Vincenzo Spampinato", "Dolce e Amaro", "Rime Tempestose", "Dolce Amnesia dell'Elefante", "Antico Suono degli Dei"(Cantagiro 1991 with Matia Bazar), "L'amore Nuovo"(Premio Tenco) with Dalla and Battiato, "Judas", "Il Raccolto".
Since the beginning of his career, he has been writing lyrics for Italian and foreign artists such as Fausto Leali, Irene Fargo, Viola Valentino, Riccardo Fogli, Patrizia Bulgari, Sebastian Casanova, Gonzalo, Ricardo Montanier, Kiara, etc...
He loves simple things, poets (Alberti, Borges, Esenin and above all Leopardi for his musicality).
He is interested in "digging music" and not in the superficial one.
