Example of monument-museum, enriched by a natural scenary of particular beauty (the mount Barca is the scenary of a place rich in mediterranean vegetation), the Masseria Lombardo is a precious evidence of the settlements in the area of Bronte from 500 A.C. The restoration project of the old building, the recovery and the reinstatement of the ancient lava and sandstone structures and also the parallel project for the protection and the recovery of the zoological, botanical and agricultural patrimony, started in about 1975, thanks to the initiative of a private citizen. Nowadays, among other evidences brought to light, an arab paper-mill of the year one thousand, a furnace, the eigthteenth-century farm and the suggestive guard tower, a classical medieval defensive structure with a quadrilateral plant, can also be visited.
