Located inside the Faculty of Earth Sciences, the museum contains above all Sicilian fossil collections of great importance from the Paleozoic age to the Quaternary, seen that in Sicily other fossil findings belonging to some geologic period don’t exist. Gravina and Viglino collections also include fossils coming from all over the world (thousands of catalogued animal and vegetable species). Found in the fossil deposit of Spinagallo, the museum features the Elephas Falconeri, dwarf elephant (adult exemplary), one of the few specimen existent in Italy, whose skeleton is well preserved.
